Answering the Cry of the Poor - Yorkshire

ANCOP Global Walk 2012, Ilkley

The two fold mission of the Couples For Christ (CFC) are Building the Church of the Home and Building the and Church of the Poor (BCOP). Work for building the Church of the Poor is integral in CFC's mission.  The global mission states that “We shall pursue Total Christian Liberation through social justice, respect for life and work with the poor. We are called to love the poor as exemplified by Christ and we are called to be a caring community with one heart and one mind."

Building the Church of the poor emanates from the Social Teachings of the Church and will be strengthened by the new formation teachings that will guide our posture towards our work for Total Christian Liberation. The programs are tools and ways for members of CFC to grow in loving the poor as Christ did.

ANCOP is the acronym for "Answering the Cry of the Poor". It is a program founded by CFC as part of its global efforts of Building the Church of the Poor. ANCOP pursues programs to help the poorest of the poor in the Philippines, especially in depressed areas. Among the active programs are the Child Sponsorship Program (CSP) and the Shelter Program. CSP enables sponsors to send children to school (primary, secondary and tertiary levels). The shelter program builds homes for our poor brethren.

ANCOP has been launched by Couples for Christ in its communities across the globe. In fact, ANCOP is wherever CFC has a community.  ANCOP was launched in the United Kingdom on 26 May 2012 in London, UK.  The ANCOP of the CFC UK's Yorkshire, Midlands and Isle Of Man (YMI) was formally organised on 20 July 2012.
